You will see numerous young grass trees around the Scribbly Gum and along the fire trail.

 

There are 30 species of Grass Tree in Australia and seven on the Gwandalan/ Summerland Point peninsula.

Grass trees may take several years to flower.

 

 Flowers form on a spear-like spike, which can be up to 4m long and are arranged in a spiral up the spike.

 

They produce a great amount of nectar and attract many insects, birds and mammals.
